Tragically, the historic Al-Ahram Studio in Cairo, one of Africa’s most renowned film production facilities, fell victim to a devastating fire.
Established eight decades ago, this esteemed studio suffered extensive damage, impacting nearby structures on Saturday morning.
Firefighters valiantly battled the blaze for over five hours, ensuring the safe evacuation of residents.
The incident occurred shortly after the completion of a Ramadan television series production.
With its inception dating back to 1944, Al-Ahram Studio has been a cornerstone of the film and television industry, offering facilities such as a screening room and editing suite within its expansive 27,000 square meter campus.
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Culture Nevine El-Kilany personally assessed the site to gauge the extent of the damage.
The Prime Minister assured government assistance, announcing financial aid of EGP 15,000 (approximately $300) for each affected family to cover temporary accommodation until their homes are restored.
Thankfully, there have been no reported fatalities, although several injured individuals were promptly transported to hospitals for treatment, as per state media reports.
