Ukrainian drones have targeted two oil refineries in a cross-border assault, sparking a massive fire as Kyiv’s forces carry out retaliatory strikes inside Russian territory.
The governor of Russia’s Samara region confirmed that the attack struck two Rosneft-owned refineries in Syzran, with no reported casualties as emergency teams battled the blaze.
A Ukrainian source informed Reuters that the SBU intelligence agency had targeted three Rosneft refineries in the Samara region: Syzran, Novokuibyshevsky, and Kuibyshevsky.
“The SBU is actively pursuing its strategy to undermine Russia’s economic capabilities, enabling its military actions in Ukraine,” the source stated.
Unverified videos circulating on social media depicted the massive fire engulfing the refinery post-evacuation.
