The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) reported that as part of Operation WHIRL PUNCH, a fighter jet conducted a successful strike on a terrorist supply depot in Palele, near Shiroro, Niger State.
Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, emphasized that airstrikes under Operation WHIRL PUNCH have been consistently dismantling terrorist infrastructure in Nigeria’s Northwest and North Central regions.
The recent operation on March 15, 2024, targeted and destroyed a terrorist logistics storage facility in Palele.
Based on credible intelligence indicating a weapons cache presence, air assets were deployed to eliminate the threat swiftly and precisely.
The operation inflicted significant damage on the target area, with a secondary explosion confirming the destruction of arms and ammunition, likely linked to a prominent terrorist figure on the Most Wanted List.
These strikes have notably weakened the capabilities of terrorist groups in Kaduna and Niger States, reducing their capacity to harm civilians.
The NAF, alongside surface forces, pledges to maintain control over vulnerable areas through enhanced awareness, patrols, and targeted counter-terrorism efforts.
The public’s support and provision of information on terrorist activities remain crucial for the ongoing success of operations against these criminal elements.
