President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his delegation on Thursday, March 21, 2024.

Also present were Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Egyptian General Intelligence Service Director Major General Abbas Kamel.

Dr. Ahmed Fahmy, the Presidency’s spokesman, conveyed that Secretary Blinken expressed US President Joe Biden’s congratulations and appreciation for Egypt’s crucial role in achieving peace and stability in the Middle East.

President El-Sisi commended the strong alliance between the two nations and their joint efforts to address various regional and international challenges.

The discussion centered on the current situation in the Gaza Strip, with a focus on collaborative mediation efforts to secure a ceasefire and facilitate the exchange of captives.

President El-Sisi stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire, citing the humanitarian crisis and imminent starvation facing Gaza’s population, which threatens innocent lives.

He warned against the severe consequences of any military action in Rafah and urged immediate steps to allow humanitarian aid into the region.

Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of advancing the two-state solution and establishing an independent

Secretary Blinken commended Egypt’s efforts to promote calm and reiterated the US commitment to coordinating with Egypt to restore regional peace and security.

Both parties emphasized the importance of continued cooperation, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and rejecting any displacement of Palestinians from their territories.
