The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has issued a warning about a new scam targeting the public, particularly those with relatives abroad.
Femi Babafemi, NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, alerted the public to the scheme where scammers impersonate NDLEA officials.
They contact unsuspecting individuals, claiming their relatives have been arrested at Nigerian airports for drug offenses.
These scammers demand large sums of money to facilitate the release of the supposed detainees.
NDLEA urges the public not to fall victim to these scams and advises keeping travel plans confidential to prevent exploitation by criminals.
