On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu conferred posthumous national awards on 17 military personnel who were killed in the Okuama area of Delta State.

He also announced the provision of scholarships for their children during the burial ceremony at the Military Cemetery in Abuja.

Additionally, President Tinubu pledged to provide housing facilities for the surviving family members and ensure scholarships for all the fallen soldiers’ children, covering education up to university level.

To offer immediate assistance, he directed the prompt payment of death benefits to the families, guaranteeing financial support within 90 days.

The president honored the soldiers as “patriots, brave, and noble men” who sacrificed their lives to protect and defend Nigeria against various threats.

He assured that their sacrifices would be commemorated and respected for generations to come.

President Tinubu’s actions demonstrate the government’s commitment to honoring and supporting its servicemen and their families, especially during times of loss and hardship.

The announcement of scholarships and benefits reflects an acknowledgment of the lasting impact of the soldiers’ sacrifice and aims to provide tangible support to their loved ones as they cope with their loss.
