Three jets from the Presidential Air Fleet (PAF) are slated for sale as part of cost-saving measures under the Tinubu Administration, according to an official source.
Currently comprising ten aircraft – six jets and four helicopters – the fleet will be reduced to seven if the proposed action is implemented.
Previous attempts to sell two planes during President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure did not materialize, despite offering a Dassault Falcon 7x and a Beechcraft Hawker 4000 for sale in October 2016.
Initial bids of $24 million were later renegotiated down to $11 million, which the government rejected.
Following this, an initiative to lease some aircraft to interested governors was explored to generate income and mitigate maintenance expenses.
The Presidential Fleet currently consists of Boeing Business Jets (BBJ) 737, Gulfstream G550, Gulfstream G500, two Falcon 7X, HS 4000, two Agusta 139, and two Agusta 101 aircraft.
