Overnight, Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, was struck by a drone attack that resulted in six fatalities and at least 10 injuries, according to national emergency services and the city’s mayor.
The attack, which targeted nine high-rise buildings, three dormitories, and a petrol station, was reportedly carried out using Iranian-made drones.
Police confirmed the deaths and noted that eight individuals were hospitalized due to blast injuries and shrapnel wounds.
The wounded include two women aged 25 and 52, and six men aged 23 to 76.
Fortunately, there were no casualties reported in a separate attack on Mala Danylivka, a village on Kharkiv’s north-west outskirts.
Photos shared by police on Telegram depicted fires in civilian areas, particularly near a high-rise apartment building.
Several buildings, including residential blocks and a petrol station, sustained damage during the assault.
This incident coincided with reports from Ukraine’s air force of multiple groups of Russian drones operating across the country.
