Former US President Donald Trump expressed willingness to go to jail for violating a gag order imposed by Justice Juan Merchan, the judge overseeing his upcoming trial related to a hush-money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.
Trump stated on his Truth Social platform that he would consider it an honor to be incarcerated for speaking what he termed as the “open and obvious TRUTH.” He likened this potential scenario to becoming a “Modern Day Nelson Mandela.”
The trial in question pertains to criminal charges in New York state court, accusing Trump of covering up a $130,000 payment to Daniels before the 2016 election to secure her silence about an alleged sexual encounter.
