Former President Jacob Zuma has been cleared to contest the elections under the uMkhonto weSizwe Party banner, following a ruling by the Electoral Court.
The court overturned the Electoral Commission of South Africa’s (IEC) decision to bar Zuma from running for Parliament due to his 15-month prison sentence for contempt of court.
The IEC’s objection was dismissed by the court, allowing Zuma to participate as a candidate in the upcoming elections.
