Google fired twenty-eight employees on Wednesday night after they participated in a 10-hour sit-in protest at offices in New York and Sunnyvale, California.
The protest was against the company’s $1.2 billion cloud contract with Israel, according to sources familiar with the situation.
After internal investigations, these employees were dismissed, as stated in a company-wide memo from Google’s vice president of global security, Chris Rackow.
Rackow described their actions as unacceptable, highly disruptive, and causing discomfort to colleagues.
The memo indicated, “Following investigation, today we terminated the employment of twenty-eight employees found to be involved. We will continue to investigate and take action as needed.”
