A remarkable event unfolded in Colorado this week when a four-year-old boy’s heart began beating again after 14 hours, following his mother’s heartfelt invocation to God.
Cartier McDaniel experienced a miraculous recovery after his heart ceased beating for 14 hours, stunning his family and doctors alike.
Health professionals expressed astonishment, as Cartier’s chances of survival had been extremely low just hours earlier.
His parents, Destiny Anderson and Dominique McDaniel, were alarmed when Cartier, typically energetic and playful, showed signs of illness with a sudden high fever, chills, frequent urination, extreme thirst, and lethargy.
Rushing him to Children’s Hospital Colorado, Destiny recalled having to carry Cartier because he was unresponsive and his condition rapidly deteriorated.
Within minutes of reaching the hospital, Cartier went into cardiac arrest, leaving his parents in distress.
Doctors, including Dr. Aline Maddux from the pediatric intensive care unit, were deeply concerned about Cartier’s prognosis.
Despite initial efforts to revive his heart, Cartier’s condition worsened due to strep A infection leading to sepsis and organ failure.
Resorting to extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) life support, doctors struggled to revive Cartier’s heart. Despite being on life support overnight, Cartier showed no signs of improvement.
Destiny, overwhelmed with fear and guilt, made a heartfelt plea to her son, urging him to “talk to God.”
This emotional moment unfolded 13 hours into the ordeal, with Destiny leaning on her faith and partner for support.
The unexpected turn of events left medical professionals and Cartier’s family astonished, highlighting the power of hope and faith in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.
