Mark Zuckerberg has unveiled an upcoming product from Meta.
In a recent interview with live streamer Roberto Nickson, the Meta founder and CEO discussed the future of the company’s Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, hinting at a new wearable technology.
Zuckerberg described a vision for consumer neural interfaces, anticipating wearable devices that can interpret neural signals transmitted through nerves in the wrist. These signals, though imperceptible to others, could control glasses or other computing devices.
Emphasizing that this technology won’t involve brain implants, Zuckerberg mentioned that the idea is still in its early development stages, with the first version of the product yet to be released.
In related news earlier this year, it was reported that Apple is also working on a similar wearable electronic device, potentially aimed at its AirPods line.
An application filed by Apple with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in January 2023 detailed a device capable of sensing biosignals, including brain activity, using electrodes.
While Apple has not officially confirmed this device, there’s speculation that AirPods 4 might debut in the fall of this year.
