Former Nigerian footballer Tijani Babangida has tragically lost his young son following a devastating road accident that also claimed the life of his brother, Ibrahim Babangida.
The incident occurred on Thursday, April 10, 2024, along the Zaria-Kaduna road. Tijani, his wife, brother, son, and maid were involved in the accident.
Ibrahim Babangida passed away instantly, while Tijani, who currently serves as the president of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), and the other occupants of the vehicle were rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
Despite efforts to save him, Tijani’s young son succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Tijani’s wife sustained severe facial injuries, resulting in the loss of one of her eyes.
A close family friend shared the heartbreaking news, expressing deep sympathy for Tijani and his family during this incredibly difficult time.
The friend highlighted the trauma Tijani is experiencing, having lost both his younger brother and his beloved son in quick succession.
Updates on the condition of the other individuals involved in the accident were also provided, including the maid who sustained a leg fracture.
Tijani Babangida has since been transferred to a hospital in Abuja, where he is scheduled to undergo surgery for his injured knee and other injuries sustained in the accident.
