The delay of the much-anticipated boxing match between former champion Mike Tyson and Jake Paul is attributed to Tyson’s health issues.
Netflix has announced that the fight will now take place later this year, but doubts are growing about whether it will happen at all.
Netflix has rescheduled the Tyson-Paul fight for Friday, November 15, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
This event will also feature a historic women’s boxing rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
Nakisa Bidarian, Co-Founder of Most Valuable Promotions, stated:
“Our team has worked hard with everyone involved to find a new date that ensures both Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are well-prepared, with equal training time, and allows us to keep the event at AT&T Stadium during the Cowboys season.
This fight is a significant cross-generational sporting event, and we are committed to providing fans with an unforgettable night of boxing, broadcast live globally on Netflix.”
It’s worth noting that Mike Tyson will be 58 years old when he faces Jake Paul.
Despite Tyson’s confidence, his health issues have already caused delays, raising concerns about his ability to compete.
In the announcement of the new date, Tyson expressed his determination:
“Despite the postponement, I will resume training soon. I appreciate the medical staff who treated me and the efforts of MVP, Netflix, and AT&T Stadium to find the best new date. The result will be the same no matter when we fight. Jake Paul is getting knocked out.”
While Tyson’s statements are what we’d expect from the legendary boxer, doubts persist. Both fighters are maintaining a respectful and determined stance, but Tyson’s health concerns make many question the wisdom of the match.
The delay has intensified debates over whether it’s wise for Jake Paul to fight a 58-year-old Tyson.
