YouTube personality and boxer Jake Paul was scheduled to fight former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson on July 20, but the match was postponed after Tyson experienced a health scare on a recent flight, later diagnosed as an ulcer flare-up. Tyson is expected to fully recover.
Initially, the fight was set to proceed despite Tyson’s health issue, but it was later announced that Tyson couldn’t train fully, leading to the postponement of the match to November 15. Instead of waiting, Paul has reportedly opted to face a new opponent on July 20.
According to reports, Paul will now fight former UFC and current Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship star Mike Perry. An official announcement from Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions company is expected soon.
Adding to the confusion, it’s unclear whether Paul will still face Tyson in November or if the fight with Perry will be an exhibition. Nevertheless, the matchup with Perry promises to be an intriguing bout.
Perry spent most of his MMA career in the UFC, amassing a 14-8 record before joining BKFC. Since his debut with BKFC in February 2022, Perry has an undefeated 5-0 record, defeating former UFC fighters like Luke Rockhold, Eddie Alvarez, and Thiago Alves.
Paul has had a series of victories since his first professional loss against Tommy Fury in February 2023. Notably, he defeated Nate Diaz by unanimous decision in August 2023, and knocked out Andre August and Ryan Bourland in subsequent matches.
Paul is set to face Perry in what could be his toughest challenge yet, with Perry known for his power and toughness. However, Perry has only a little over a month to prepare for this upcoming boxing match.
