The Nigerian Government has announced that Wednesday, June 12 will be observed as a public holiday to mark this year’s Democracy Day.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, conveyed congratulations to Nigerians in a statement issued on Tuesday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Aishetu Ndayako.
The statement emphasized the significance of reflecting on the efforts of Nigeria’s founding fathers as the nation commemorates another Democracy Day. It called for unity, security, and peace to ensure Nigeria remains indivisible. Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to uphold the principles of democratic governance.
Furthermore, the minister highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to implementing reforms aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s economy and improving security.
The statement concluded by urging Nigerians and Nigeria’s well-wishers to recognize the progress made and to look forward to a promising future for Nigeria’s democracy.
