On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu experienced a serious mishap during the June 12 Democracy Day celebrations in Abuja. While trying to board the presidential parade vehicle at Eagle Square, Tinubu stumbled and fell face down.
According to reports, the President momentarily lost his balance as he was stepping into the vehicle. Security aides quickly assisted him, helping him back up.
Despite the incident, President Tinubu proceeded with the planned events.
Earlier, in a televised Democracy Day address, Tinubu acknowledged the economic difficulties resulting from recent policies such as the partial removal of electricity subsidies, the removal of fuel subsidies, and the floating of the naira.
He explained that these measures were necessary to establish a stronger foundation for future growth.
“Our economy has needed reform for decades. It has been unstable due to an over-reliance on oil revenues,” Tinubu stated. “As we continue these reforms, I will always listen to the people and never turn my back on you.”
