Target announced on Thursday that it plans to introduce a new generative artificial intelligence technology, called Store Companion, for its store employees across all of its nearly 2,000 stores nationwide by August.
This AI-powered chatbot tool will be available as an app on store associates’ handheld devices, designed to assist them in answering on-the-job process questions and supporting store operations.
Currently, Store Companion is in pilot testing at approximately 400 locations, with a nationwide rollout planned.
In addition to Store Companion, Target is leveraging generative AI to enhance product display pages by showing personalized customer search results and summaries of product reviews.
The company has also begun implementing guided search on its online store, allowing customer product searches to return a wider selection of relevant items. This enhanced search experience will be available to all customers later this summer.
