Yahoo is introducing updates to Yahoo Mail on desktop, featuring new AI capabilities and other enhancements designed to simplify email and task management.
One of the key updates includes AI-generated summaries of emails, complete with bulleted lists highlighting proposed tasks and actions.
This feature is located under the new Priority inbox tab, which uses AI to identify and prioritize what Yahoo considers to be the most important messages, similar to Gmail’s approach.
Gmail recently introduced a similar summaries feature for its mobile app, but it is only available to Workspace and Google One AI Premium subscribers.
In addition to AI-powered summaries, Yahoo is making it easier for users to quickly access and act upon emails.
Quick action buttons will now appear directly within the inbox, allowing users to add events to a calendar, check in for flights, and track packages with ease.
Furthermore, a new persistent “starred view” panel enables users to quickly see and access their most important tasks and items they want to revisit.
Yahoo Mail users can now link their inbox to other email accounts, such as Gmail, Microsoft Outlook, and AOL, allowing them to send and receive all their emails from within Yahoo Mail.
Kyle Miller, VP of product at Yahoo Mail, stated, “People are looking for better ways to streamline daily activities like managing multiple email accounts, organizing schedules, reading through lengthy messages, and tracking orders.
The new features we’re launching are aimed at making life easier for anyone who relies on email.”
