Reports indicate that the Israeli military allegedly caused the deaths of 17 individuals by striking a UN school in the Nuseirat refugee camp, where displaced Palestinians had sought shelter.
The attack also resulted in injuries to more than 80 people and is noted as the fifth assault on a shelter within eight days.
According to the Palestinian Civil Defence, the school was housing thousands of displaced individuals, with most of the casualties reported to be women and children.
In response to the incident, the Israeli military stated that it targeted several individuals it identified as terrorists operating near the UNRWA’s Abu Oraiban school building in Nuseirat.
Allegedly, the Israeli military has been involved in multiple bombings of UN facilities, refugee camps, and schools located in designated safe zones, resulting in the deaths of at least 90 people.
UNRWA, the primary relief agency in Gaza, reported that over half of its facilities, totaling 190, have been bombed by the Israeli military, with some locations targeted more than once.
In light of these events, the European Union, France, and Germany have called for an investigation into the airstrikes on schools.
