Leaders of organized labor have agreed to the N70,000 minimum wage that President Bola Tinubu approved for Nigerian workers. Minister of Information Mohammed Idris informed State House correspondents that President Tinubu announced this offer during a meeting with labor leaders at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday.
Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President Joe Ajaero confirmed the acceptance of the offer. Alongside Comrade Festus Usifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and other worker representatives, Ajaero mentioned that the unions accepted the offer partly due to additional incentives and the president’s promise of a review every three years, which is an improvement over previous agreements.
