Former President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he has accepted an offer from Fox News to debate Vice President Kamala Harris on September 4th.
He mentioned that the debate was initially set to be with President Joe Biden on ABC but was canceled due to Biden’s withdrawal from the race and ongoing litigation involving ABC.
The debate will take place in Pennsylvania, with Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum as moderators. Trump highlighted that it will feature a full arena audience.
Although Trump had previously agreed to debate Biden on September 10th, Biden’s exit from the race and Harris becoming the presumptive Democratic nominee led to uncertainty about a Trump-Harris debate. Trump expressed his readiness to debate Harris but noted that the public is already familiar with both of them.
Trump, who skipped the 2024 Republican primary debates, and Harris have also initiated ad campaigns against each other in key states.
Harris has launched a $50 million ad campaign ahead of the Democratic National Convention, while Trump has secured $12 million in airtime in several battleground states.
Details about the upcoming debate are still pending.
