Takeaways:

– The interview faced technical difficulties, with Musk attributing the issues to a cyberattack, though he provided no proof.

– The first 20 minutes focused on an alleged assassination attempt on Trump at a July rally in Butler, PA, during which Musk openly showed his support for Trump.

– Musk commended Trump for his bravery after being shot at, stating, “I think many people admire your courage under fire.”

– The conversation then shifted to topics they both agreed on, such as illegal immigration and their shared view that the Biden administration has failed to secure the U.S.-Mexico border. Trump labeled undocumented immigrants as dangerous.

– Trump boasted about his relationships with Kim Jong Un and Vladimir Putin while criticizing his political adversaries. Musk mostly agreed with Trump and added his opinions, including comments on the causes of inflation and concerns about air quality.

– Trump described Harris as a “radical left lunatic” and “worse than Bernie Sanders,” to which Musk replied, “It’s essential that you win the election for the sake of the country.”

– Without evidence, Trump accused Democrats of plotting to remove President Joe Biden from the ballot. He also criticized Harris’ appearance on a Time magazine cover and questioned Biden’s mental state, suggesting that Jewish people who vote for Democrats should “have their heads examined.”

– Trump contemplated shutting down the federal Department of Education and transferring its responsibilities to the states if he wins the election in November.

– Although Trump has been skeptical of electric vehicles and had previously promised to reduce federal subsidies, he praised Tesla, which Musk owns. He recently stated that he had “no choice” but to support EVs due to Musk’s endorsement and called Tesla’s products “great.”

– As the interview concluded, Trump commended Musk for the number of people who tuned into the event, claiming “60 million or something” were listening, although the actual number was only 1.3 million at that time.
