More than 20 people were hurt when a Ferris wheel at the Highfield Festival near Leipzig, Germany, caught fire on Saturday evening. Photos show two of the ride’s carriages ablaze with smoke filling the sky.
The fire broke out shortly after 9 p.m., and the cause remains unknown, according to Saxony police.
Four individuals sustained burn injuries, while another person was injured from a fall. Eighteen others, including first responders and police, were exposed to smoke and hospitalized for treatment.
An investigation is underway, and the area has been secured by authorities. During the fire, German rapper Ski Aggu was performing on stage.
He later expressed his shock and dismay on Instagram, noting that he was advised to continue the show and engage with the audience to prevent panic.
Separately, a man in Georgia underwent surgery to temporarily remove part of his skull following a brain bleed.
