Elon Musk, the tech billionaire, announced the beta launch of the X TV app today (September 4).
In a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Musk confirmed the development by quoting an update from the engineering team.
“TV app beta rolling out,” Musk mentioned.
Earlier, X’s Engineering Team had shared that the X TV app beta is now accessible in several app stores, with plans to expand to more platforms soon.
According to X Engineering, this release, combined with the upcoming Video Tab, represents a significant step toward transforming X into a video-centric platform, creating new opportunities for content creators, advertisers, and partners.
Doge Designer mentioned that the X TV app is now available on Android TVs, with Amazon Fire TV, Google TV, and LG expected to follow soon.
Musk has consistently expressed his vision of turning X into an “everything app.”
As X strives to become a “video-first platform,” the company has been actively collaborating with prominent figures like former Fox commentator Tucker Carlson and former CNN anchor Don Lemon.
X CEO Linda Yaccarino first hinted at streaming plans in April 2024, mentioning a dedicated TV app for high-resolution streaming and promising regular updates for users.
Commenting on the X Engineering post, Yaccarino teased, “Stay tuned to X because there is so much more coming.”
