Actor Tyrese Gibson has been taken into custody for failing to pay court-ordered child support for his five-year-old daughter Soraya, whom he shares with ex-wife Samantha Lee.
Tyrese, 45, was required to pay $10,000 per month starting in April 2023 but has only been paying $2,200 monthly, which is far below the mandated amount.
During a hearing, he was found in contempt of court and handcuffed. The judge stated Tyrese could avoid jail by paying $73,000, including $7,500 for Samantha’s attorney. Tyrese is reportedly arranging the payment.
He and Samantha divorced in 2020 after marrying in 2017.
He also shares a daughter, born in 2007, with ex-wife Norma Mitchell. Despite his reported net worth of $4 million, Tyrese has struggled to meet the child support terms.
