Two elementary schools in Springfield, Ohio, were evacuated, and a middle school was closed on Friday morning due to information from the Springfield Police Division, according to school officials.
The city recently became a focal point of false election-related rumors involving Haitian migrants.
Springfield, located north of Dayton, gained national attention after former President Donald Trump claimed during a debate with Vice President Kamala Harris that migrants in Springfield were eating residents’ pets, a statement that sparked threats, including bomb scares.
Perrin Woods and Snowhill Elementary students were relocated to an alternative site, while Roosevelt Middle School was closed as a precaution.
Thursday saw similar evacuations at Springfield City Hall and Fulton Elementary School following bomb threats, which were linked to false accusations about Haitian migrants.
Officials emphasized that there are no ongoing threats to other district buildings. However, these actions marked the second consecutive day of school evacuations tied to unfounded rumors targeting the local Haitian community.
