Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, a Ballon d’Or winner, has achieved a milestone by reaching 1 billion followers across all his social media platforms.
The 39-year-old Al-Nassr forward announced this achievement on Instagram, expressing gratitude to his supporters for their unwavering belief through both triumphs and challenges.
Ronaldo reminisced about his journey from Madeira to becoming one of the greatest players ever, emphasizing that the 1 billion followers represent more than just a figure. He acknowledged the support of his followers throughout his career and promised continued success and historic achievements.
Currently, Ronaldo is the most-followed individual on social media, with 638 million Instagram followers, 113 million on X, over 170 million on Facebook, and more than 60 million on YouTube.
He also set a Guinness World Record for the most YouTube subscribers gained in 24 hours after launching his channel on August 21.
Ronaldo, who has won five Ballon d’Or awards, three UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Awards, and four European Golden Shoes, holds the record for the most career goals scored and is the highest-paid athlete in 2024, with earnings estimated at $260 million according to Forbes.
