Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, who has faced multiple sexual assault lawsuits and a federal human trafficking investigation over the past year, has been arrested, according to his attorney.
Combs was taken into custody at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Manhattan by Homeland Security Investigations on Monday evening.
The arrest is based on an indictment, expected to be revealed on Tuesday, though the specific charges remain unclear.
Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, criticized the decision, calling the prosecution unjust and emphasizing Combs’ cooperation with the investigation.
Agnifilo maintained Combs’ innocence and stated that Combs voluntarily relocated to New York in preparation for the charges.
Earlier this year, a federal investigation into sex trafficking, money laundering, and drug offenses targeted Combs, following a series of sexual assault allegations made in civil lawsuits.
These lawsuits, filed by multiple women, accuse Combs of various forms of abuse. While Combs has consistently denied the allegations, he apologized publicly after surveillance footage emerged showing him assaulting his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in 2016.
Combs now faces both criminal charges and several civil lawsuits, many of which allege sexual assault.
Attorney Tyrone Blackburn, representing several of Combs’ accusers, welcomed the arrest as a step toward justice.
More alleged victims are expected to come forward as the case progresses.
