Brooklyn Park is set to lose a grocery store as the Cub at West Broadway and Brooklyn Boulevard will close on November 16, as announced by its parent company, United Natural Foods (UNFI).
Shoppers expressed their shock and sadness. “A grocery store is essential to a neighborhood,” said Kristina Franklin, while Paige Davis, a longtime customer, shared her emotional connection, recalling her childhood visits. Franklin noted the store’s convenience for quick shopping.
UNFI stated the closure was a difficult decision made after careful evaluation of the store’s performance. They emphasized their commitment to the community and thanked the staff for their service.
Customers will still have access to other nearby Cub locations and online services for pick-up and delivery.
