Authorities in Birmingham, Alabama, have announced a reward of up to $100,000 for any information that could help identify the individuals responsible for a targeted shooting that occurred Saturday night in a busy entertainment area.
The attack left four people dead and 17 others injured, including several bystanders.
Police responded to the incident in Five Points South, where they found three victims unresponsive, later declared dead. A fourth person died at a hospital. The victims were identified as Anitra Holloman, 21; Tahj Booker, 27; Carlos McCain, 27; and Roderick Lynn Patterson Jr., 26.
The police believe the shooting was a deliberate hit, but many others were caught in the crossfire. More than 100 shell casings were recovered, and investigators are reviewing surveillance footage. No suspects are in custody, and authorities are working with the FBI and other agencies on the case.
The incident is part of a troubling trend of gun violence in Birmingham, with local officials calling for stricter laws and more efforts to tackle illegal gun conversion devices, which are believed to have been used in the attack.
