Sean “Diddy” Combs, arrested last week on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, is being held in the same area of a federal detention center in Brooklyn as Sam Bankman-Fried, the former cryptocurrency executive, according to sources. Both are housed at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

The unit where they are detained is described as a barrack-style space with around 18-20 inmates, including high-profile figures like Combs, as well as cooperators who may need special protection. While it is separate from the general prison population, the area is a shared living space, the sources say.

Combs was denied bail last week while awaiting trial on the federal charges. He has denied all allegations, pleading not guilty during his arraignment. Since his arrest on September 16 at his Manhattan hotel, he has remained in custody in New York City.

His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, stated that Combs has been fully cooperative with the investigation, having voluntarily moved to New York ahead of the charges.

Agnifilo urged the public to withhold judgment until all the facts are presented, emphasizing that Combs is innocent and ready to clear his name in court.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons has not provided specific information about Combs’ conditions of confinement, citing privacy and security reasons.

Meanwhile, Sam Bankman-Fried, 32, was found guilty of fraud in November 2023 and sentenced to 25 years in prison in March 2024.

Prosecutors accused him and other executives of misusing customer funds from the FTX crypto exchange for risky investments, illegal political donations, bribes to Chinese officials, and luxury real estate purchases in the Caribbean.
