Six months after their public dispute regarding the ‘Best Dressed Female’ award at Eniola Ajao’s movie premiere, singer Portable has shared advice with crossdresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky. This comes as Bobrisky grapples with suicidal thoughts linked to bribery allegations involving him and officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
On Thursday, Bobrisky revealed that the emotional strain from the bribery scandal has led him to consider suicide, stating, “I have never thought about taking my own life, but now it’s becoming a thought due to how people treat each other to bring them down.” He expressed that he does not seek sympathy from anyone, not even from his late parents, questioning who would truly support him.
The situation escalated when social media influencer Martins ‘VeryDarkMan’ Otse leaked audio on Instagram, where Bobrisky detailed his six-month jail experience. In the audio, Bobrisky claimed that EFCC officials demanded N15 million from him to drop money laundering charges. He also mentioned that human rights activist Femi Falana and his son, singer Falz, reached out to him about securing a presidential pardon.
The leaked audio triggered public outrage and demands for investigations into alleged corruption within the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS). Consequently, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, along with the EFCC, NCoS, and the House of Representatives, initiated inquiries into the bribery claims.
In response to Bobrisky’s post about contemplating suicide, Portable, in a video shared on his Instagram, encouraged him to seek forgiveness from God and to repent. The singer cautioned against suicide, warning that it would lead to eternal damnation, saying, “God doesn’t desire the death of sinners. Bobrisky, don’t take your life; instead, ask God for forgiveness.”
Portable emphasized that God seeks repentance rather than the death of sinners, advising Bobrisky not to follow the example of a sparrow that refuses to turn away from its sins. He concluded by urging that if Bobrisky repents, he can overcome his struggles and enjoy life again.
