Governor Tim Walz has directed that all U.S. and Minnesota flags at state buildings be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Sunday, designated as Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day.
“Firefighters commit their lives to serving others. During crises, they put their own safety on the line to protect our communities,” Governor Walz stated. “We must not overlook the sacrifices made by firefighters and their families. Today, we remember and pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.”
Individuals, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to lower their flags on Sunday to honor the fallen firefighters and their families in Minnesota.
