Tim Pearson, a long-time advisor and confidant to New York City Mayor Eric Adams, resigned on Monday, as confirmed by his attorney.
Pearson’s departure follows a corruption investigation and Adams’ recent federal grand jury indictment. His resignation also comes after Governor Kathy Hochul reportedly urged Adams to make significant changes within his administration.
Pearson, a former NYPD colleague of Adams, was among several high-ranking city officials whose homes were searched and devices seized earlier this month, raising concerns about Adams’ leadership. Pearson’s attorney, Hugh Mo, stated that Pearson denies any wrongdoing, despite the FBI seizing his phone and documents. Mo expressed confidence that the facts will clear Pearson of any misconduct allegations.
In his resignation letter, Pearson expressed pride in the administration’s work on public safety and migrant services.
Mayor Adams acknowledged Pearson’s long service to the city and wished him well.
