Segun Sowunmi, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has labeled the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a “gang of zombies.”
During his appearance on Channels Television’s Politics, Sowunmi argued that the APC does not function as a true political party.
He stated that APC is fooling itself if it believes it operates as a political party, describing it instead as merely a vehicle for contesting elections.
Sowunmi criticized the APC’s internal affairs as laughable and noted the absence of recent congresses within the party, unlike the PDP, which recently held congresses nationwide.
He remarked, “The PDP just conducted congresses across the country, and I can’t recall the last time our rivals—the APC—did anything similar. We are committed to upholding democratic principles, not just maintaining a facade of peace. People will have choices and seek legal recourse.”
Sowunmi emphasized that the APC is mistaken if it considers itself a legitimate political party, suggesting that while it may hold governmental power, its internal issues render it incapable of functioning as one. He further stated, “It is absurd for them to wake up one day and find their chairman dismissed, only to be told to find a replacement. It truly is a gang of zombies.” He concluded with respect, reiterating that the APC is deluding itself about its status as a political party.
