Grammy-winning artist Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, has been recognized as the most prominent Nigerian musician of all time on Apple Music.
To commemorate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, the streaming service revealed the top 10 most-streamed Nigerian artists and songs in its history. Burna Boy ranked first, followed by Wizkid, Davido, Rema, and Asake.
The top ten is rounded out by Tems, Omah Lay, Fireboy DML, BNXN, and Olamide.
Rema’s remix of ‘Calm Down’ featuring Selena Gomez is the most-streamed Nigerian song ever on Apple Music, with Burna Boy’s ‘Last Last’ in second place and Wizkid’s ‘Essence,’ featuring Tems, in third.
Tems’ ‘Free Mind’ takes the fourth spot, followed by Burna Boy’s ‘Ye’ at fifth. The remaining songs include ‘Location’ by Dave and Burna Boy, Rema’s ‘Calm Down,’ Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush,’ Burna Boy’s ‘On The Low,’ and ‘Come Closer’ by Wizkid featuring Drake.
In addition, Apple Music highlighted Nigeria’s diversity by featuring nine Afrobeats artists: 2Baba (Jos), Omah Lay (Port Harcourt), Odumodublvck (Abuja), Shallipopi (Benin City), Seyi Vibez (Lagos), Jeriq (Enugu), Bloody Civilian (Abuja), and Qing Madi (Benin City).
