Jennifer Hudson may be hearing wedding bells in the near future, as her boyfriend Common expressed his intentions during her talk show appearance on Thursday.
The couple, who publicly confirmed their relationship in January, talked about marriage after Common, 52, revealed that Jennifer, 43, is “the one” he would marry.
Jennifer asked him to clarify a statement he made on The Breakfast Club in July, where he said, “If I’m going to get married, it’s to her.” Looking into her eyes, Common explained, “You once told me something your mother said, ‘A man knows what he wants.’ I was just expressing my true feelings—Jennifer is that person.”
He went on to add, “If I get married, it will be to Jennifer Kate Hudson. I was being honest. What’s your take on that?” Jennifer smiled and responded, “My mom would have approved of you. I think marriage is a beautiful thing, and you’re a man deserving of that.”
However, she quickly pointed out to the cheering audience that there was no engagement ring just yet. “It’s a beautiful thought, but we’ll see if it ever comes to that,” she said.
Common hinted that it might happen soon, saying, “I’m listening to God more and more, and I believe this, you and me, is part of that purpose.”
Jennifer then awarded Common her talk show’s Joyful Spirit Award, praising him as someone who makes the world brighter. She emphasized that what she loves most about him is that he’s “a praying man” and a man of his word. “You are my joy, and my light,” she said warmly.
Since confirming their relationship in January, the pair has been more open about their bond. Common has described Hudson as one of the most incredible people he’s ever met, highlighting her talent, faith, and down-to-earth nature. Although he didn’t directly name her during a previous interview, he made it clear by jokingly saying his partner had to have an EGOT and her own talk show.
He added that their relationship brings him true happiness and that he thanks God every day for guiding them.
