A Nepali teenager has set a new world record as the youngest person to reach the summits of the 14 highest mountains on Earth.
At just 18 years old, Nima Rinji Sherpa summited Mount Shishapangma in Tibet at approximately 06:05 local time on Wednesday.
This accomplishment places him among the few recognized by the International Mountaineering and Climbing Federation (UIAA) for climbing all of the world’s “eight-thousanders”—peaks that rise over 8,000 meters above sea level. Sherpa began his high-altitude climbing career at 16 and completed all 14 peaks in an impressive 740 days, including Nepal’s Manaslu, the eighth-highest mountain, shortly after finishing his 10th-grade exams in September 2022.
