Musician and producer Sean “Diddy” Combs, facing charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution, is set to go to trial in May 2025. A federal judge in New York scheduled the trial for May 5, 2025, during a hearing on Thursday.
According to reports, Combs, who pleaded not guilty, appeared in court today wearing a tan shirt and khaki pants, smiling and waving to his family members.
Prosecutors expect their case to last about three weeks, though this could change if more charges or defendants are added. Combs’ defense, led by attorney Marc Agnifilo, estimates their case will take one week.
The judge, Arun Subramanian, also plans to issue an order restricting public comments on confidential evidence. This follows Combs’ lawyers accusing the government of leaking a video of him allegedly abusing ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, which CNN published. Prosecutors deny having the video before its release.
The video, from a 2016 hotel surveillance camera, shows Combs dragging and kicking Ventura. Combs initially denied the abuse allegations, but later apologized after the footage became public. His legal team is seeking to exclude the video from the trial.
This was Combs’ third court appearance since his arrest, and his first before Judge Subramanian.
Combs will remain in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, awaiting his next court date on December 18.
