As the 2024 election approaches, former President Donald Trump is working to gain support from the Latino community, a crucial voting demographic.
During pre-show entertainment for Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made offensive jokes targeting Latinos, as well as Black voters and those affected by Middle Eastern conflicts.
In one joke, Hinchcliffe mocked Latino family culture, and later, he disparaged Puerto Rico, calling it a “floating island of garbage.”
A Trump campaign advisor later clarified that the Puerto Rico joke did not reflect the campaign’s views.
Other speakers at the rally made crude comments about Vice President Kamala Harris and other Democrats, with one calling Harris the “Antichrist.”
Meanwhile, Trump has actively courted Latino support, even inviting Puerto Rican artist Anuel AA to join him on stage in Pennsylvania, a key battleground state with a significant Puerto Rican population.
