Elon Musk recently spoke at the Roxain Theater in Pittsburgh, where he awarded an attendee $1 million.
Following this, Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner filed a lawsuit, labeling Musk’s $1 million giveaway for registered voters as an “illegal lottery scheme.”
Krasner claims Musk’s initiative, run by his pro-Trump group America PAC, aims to collect personal information from Pennsylvania voters under the pretense of a political pledge. According to the lawsuit, Pennsylvania law mandates that lotteries be state-administered, and Krasner argues Musk’s giveaway operates unlawfully outside these boundaries.
The lawsuit also notes potential bias in winner selection, suggesting the winners have ties to Trump rallies in Pennsylvania. Additionally, the U.S. Justice Department has cautioned that Musk’s actions could violate federal laws against offering incentives for voter registration.
