Nigerian cross-dresser Okuneye Idris, widely recognized as Bobrisky, was removed from a KLM flight headed to Amsterdam and detained by immigration officials late Thursday night while attempting to depart the country.
Bobrisky informed his followers on Instagram about the incident, mentioning he was injured in a confrontation with the officers. He accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of orchestrating his arrest, writing, “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.”
Previously, on October 22, Bobrisky was stopped at the Sème border under suspicions of fleeing the country.
Controversy surrounding Bobrisky traces back to April 2024, when he was sentenced to six months in prison by the Federal High Court in Lagos for naira abuse.
Although sentenced to serve time at Kirikiri Prison, reports claimed he stayed only three weeks before being quietly transferred to a private location.
Allegations of bribery circulated, with suggestions that a ₦15 million payment expedited his release and granted him special privileges.
The matter intensified in late September 2024, when social media influencer VeryDarkMan shared an audio recording that allegedly involved Bobrisky.
In the recording, Bobrisky reportedly claimed that musician Falz and his father, human rights attorney Femi Falana, had approached him during his detention, asking for ₦10 million to secure a presidential pardon.
On October 16, 2024, Falz and Falana issued a cease-and-desist letter, demanding a retraction and public apology, labeling the statements defamatory.
Bobrisky denied making these remarks, asserting that he wasn’t behind the leaked audio and suggesting that VeryDarkMan should be held accountable instead.
