The Canadian government has instructed TikTok to cease its operations in the country due to national security concerns. Despite this, Canadian users will still be able to use the app.
Innovation Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne stated on Wednesday that the government is taking steps to address the national security risks linked to ByteDance Ltd’s operations in Canada, particularly through the creation of TikTok Technology Canada Inc.
This order follows a national security review of TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, which had proposed expanding its business in Canada last year.
