Vivian Wilson, Elon Musk’s estranged daughter, recently expressed on Threads that she’s considering leaving the United States due to the future she envisions for transgender Americans under Donald Trump’s reelection, especially with her father’s support of Trump. “I’ve thought this for a while, but yesterday confirmed it for me,” Wilson shared, adding that regardless of Trump’s term length or the possibility of anti-trans regulations being avoided, she feels the sentiments that led to his election aren’t going away soon.
Wilson, who legally changed her name in 2022 and began receiving gender-affirming care, has faced public disapproval from her billionaire father, who attributed her actions to “the woke mind virus” and reportedly considers her “dead” to him.
Reflecting on recent media coverage of her pro-Trump relatives, she expressed relief in distancing herself from them, noting, “Watching the grown members of my ex-‘family’ in the media/twitter-sphere recently makes me glad that I didn’t develop my genetic pre-disposition of apparently not having a spine.”
She also criticized the tendency to blame specific demographics, such as Black and Latino voters or third-party supporters, for Trump’s success, urging people to focus instead on the politicians and influential figures responsible.
Meanwhile, Musk has reportedly invested $75 million into a pro-Trump PAC and is involved in establishing an “unregulated entity” aimed at downsizing government agencies he views as inefficient, per Axios.
Given Musk’s control over a leading social media platform, his ambitions in internet access, and potential ties to government roles overseeing his businesses, his influence appears to be growing.
Notably, Wilson has refrained from using Musk’s platform to make her own statements.
