Elon Musk has announced that 30-minute flights between the UK and the US could soon be a reality under Donald Trump’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Musk also claims that SpaceX’s Starship could transport passengers to any destination worldwide in less than an hour.
Since establishing SpaceX in 2002, Musk’s team has achieved significant scientific breakthroughs. Now, he envisions the latest version of his Starship not for space travel but as a revolutionary mode of human transportation.
In a promotional video for Starship, an animation shows passengers traveling to a rocket port before boarding a craft capable of carrying 1,000 people. The proposed travel times include:
London to New York: 29 minutes
New York to Paris: 30 minutes
Honolulu to Tokyo: 30 minutes
Tokyo to Delhi: 30 minutes
Sydney to Singapore: 31 minutes
Los Angeles to London: 32 minutes
London to Hong Kong: 34 minutes
London to Cape Town: 34 minutes
Sydney to Delhi: 36 minutes
After a social media post suggested that Starship Earth could receive approval within a few years, Musk responded, saying: “This is now possible.”
This development follows President-elect Donald Trump’s announcement that Musk, alongside entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, will co-lead the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Trump stated that the duo would focus on reducing government bureaucracy, cutting excessive regulations, minimizing wasteful spending, and restructuring federal agencies, emphasizing their recent close collaboration.
