Eight people killed and 17 others injured when a 21-year-old former student allegedly went on a stabbing spree at a campus in eastern China on Saturday evening, according to authorities.
The incident took place around 6:30 p.m. at the Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology in Yixing, Jiangsu province.
Police identified the attacker as a former student who had failed his exams and was supposed to graduate this year. Authorities said he returned to the school to exact revenge and confessed to the crime. The suspect had also been frustrated with his internship pay.
This attack follows a series of recent violent incidents in China. On Monday, NinaWorldNews had reported that a driver in Zhuhai killed 35 people and injured 43 after running over a group of people exercising near a sports complex. The driver, a 62-year-old man named Fan, reportedly was angered by the division of assets in his divorce.
In October, a man killed three and injured 15 others in a stabbing spree at a Shanghai supermarket.
