The House of Representatives has turned down a proposal for a six-year single-term presidency in Nigeria.
The constitutional amendment bill, introduced by Ikenga Ugochinyere (PDP, Imo), was dismissed on Thursday during a discussion on its main points.
In June, some members of the House who supported the bill also suggested rotating the presidency between the North and South and introducing a second vice president position.
