Kendrick Lamar has some lingering issues to address. In a surprise move, the Compton rapper released his sixth studio album, GNX, touching on several noteworthy topics. Among them, he expressed frustration with Lil Wayne and his friends, who were upset that Lamar was picked by Jay-Z and the NFL to headline the upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show. He also referenced Snoop Dogg’s decision to repost Drake’s diss track, “Taylor Made Freestyle,” despite being confused by the Toronto rapper using an AI-generated version of his voice.
In the second verse of “Wacced Out Murals,” Kendrick reflects on his history with Lil Wayne, saying, “Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud/ Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down.” This refers to a video Wayne posted, expressing disappointment about not being chosen to headline the Super Bowl in his hometown.
Kendrick then addresses Snoop, rapping, “Snoop posted ‘Taylor Made,’ I prayed it was the edibles/ I couldn’t believe it, it was only right for me to let it go.” He also acknowledges Nas as the only one to congratulate him after being named the Super Bowl Halftime Show headliner, saying, “Won the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me.”
Recently, Snoop credited Kendrick on Drink Champs for unifying the West Coast, and confirmed in a tweet that “the edibles” were indeed to blame for his decision to share “Taylor Made,” while also calling Kendrick the “West West King.”
